ERASMUS+ YOUTH EXCHANGE:  "Check your privilege”

The issue of social inequality is a topic which is necessary to be addressed throughout Europe.
According to a 2017 OECD report detailing the socio-economic divide in Europe, inequality is
still a major issue across the European continent. This project intends to raise awareness,
understanding, and introspection amongst youth about privilege and social inequality. This
would promote Europe’s Common Values seeking to lessen discrimination and boost social
equality, and is, therefore, an important initiative to introduce to the youth, so they can take
what they learn throughout the project and implement their learnings in their daily life and
within their communities.

The goal of this youth exchange project is to come up with ways to reduce social inequality by
aiming to achieve the following objectives:
1. Raising youth awareness about social inequality and the consequent disadvantages
of it;
2. Teaching the younger generation about different forms of social privilege and its impact
on society, as well as how privilege may look in different parts of the world/around
3. Encouraging the introspection and questioning of social inequality and privilege;
4. Promotion of Europe’s Common Values and Objectives and challenging social
inequality and privilege;
5. Spreading the project’s message across the participating countries.

Participants will learn about the effects of social inequality, how to use privilege for good and
lend space for those who lack it, and/or how to deal with/overcome minority disadvantages.
The project will be beneficial for the participants' future because it will aid them in challenging
the inequalities present in society while acknowledging the origins and effects of privilege and
how to deal with such situations when they arise.
